Building Recording
Northamptonshire Archaeology has particular expertise in the survey and recording of historic buildings.

Services include desk-based assessments, building recording to Royal Commission specifications, fabric analysis and interpretation. Members of staff have completed the RCHME building recording training course at The University of Oxford Department for External Studies.

Reporting services include the preparation of evaluation reports and the management of extensive programmes of post-survey processing and analysis frequently involving a wide range of specialists.

Listed building surveys have been carried out on sites throughout Northamptonshire for both private clients and Local Authorities.

These include work at Finedon Bridge (Northamptonshire County Council), Croyland Abbey (Borough Council of Wellingborough), Middlemore Farm (Daventry Borough Council), and the Sessions House (Northampton Borough Council).

Work for private clients in the county has included surveys at Brigstock Manor; Lyveden New Bield; West Street Chapel, Wellingborough; Evenley Hall, Brackley; Transhipment sheds, Granary and Railway Offices at Southbridge, Northampton; an estate cottage at Deenethorpe and the John White Factory, Rushden. All are in response to specific requirements by Local Planning Officers prior to alterations or restorations and include both documentary research and on-site surveys.
