Karen Deighton MSc - Environmental Project Officer

Karen took her BA in Archaeology and History, following this with an MSc in Environmental Archaeology and Palaeoeconomy. After graduating Karen worked on excavations of all periods with CADW, the Archaeological Trusts of Canterbury and York, and Carlisle Archaeological Unit. She joined NA in 1999 as an excavator at the medieval moated site at Tempsford, Bedfordshire. Since then she has supervised the in-house processing of all environmental samples, and produces reports on all animal bone assemblages and assessments of carbonised seed assemblages from smaller projects. In conjunction with Paul Halstead of Sheffield University, she has been analysing the major Bronze Age cattle bone assemblage from a round barrow at Gayhurst, Buckinghamshire (as featured in Current Archaeology 195).
